The network

Standards are the product.

Anyone can host video. What a viewer cannot get anywhere else is confidence that the person on screen is who they say they are, and is bound by rules if they aren't.

Smith Health TV is a broadcasting network for credentialed health professionals and the organizations they work in. Every channel is owned by the person or institution whose name is on it. Every one is verified before it opens, and every one agrees to the same editorial standards.

It is run by a small, independent team, and it is part of Smith App Studio. We are not owned by a hospital system, an insurer, a pharmaceutical company or a device manufacturer, and no advertiser has any say over what a channel publishes.

Editorial standards

What every channel agrees to.

  1. 01

    Licensed voices only

Every channel belongs to a credentialed professional or a health organization. We verify the credential and the issuing state before a channel opens. If a licence lapses or a board action is brought, the channel is paused until it is resolved.

  2. 02

    Education, not individual advice

Channels explain conditions, procedures, medications and prevention to a general audience. They do not diagnose a named viewer, prescribe, or answer 'what should I do about my symptoms'. That boundary protects the professional's licence as much as it protects the viewer.

  3. 03

    Conflicts declared on screen

If a sponsor paid for a video, or the presenter has a financial interest in a product or procedure discussed, the platform states it on the video itself. Disclosure is not left to a description field nobody expands.

  4. 04

    Evidence, not enthusiasm

No unproven treatments presented as settled. No miracle cures. No supplement multi-level marketing. Where evidence is genuinely contested, channels are expected to say so rather than pick the tidier answer.

  5. 05

    Scope of practice is real

A dermatologist does not publish cardiology guidance. Channels stay inside what their credential actually covers, which is one of the things reviewed before approval and revisited if the content drifts.

  6. 06

    Removal, not endless warnings

A channel that repeatedly breaks these rules is removed. A network whose standards are negotiable has no standards, and the value of everyone else's badge depends on that being true.

What we refuse

Things the network will not host.

Being explicit about this is more useful than a general promise to be careful.

  • Treatments and devices marketed on unproven claims
  • Supplement multi-level marketing schemes
  • Cosmetic procedures promoted to minors
  • Products that require a prescription being sold direct to viewers
  • Anything positioned as a replacement for seeing a clinician
